The Graduate Program in Accountancy (PPGCONT) is offered by the School of Accountancy Sciences (FCC) at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), and it was established in 2006, when CAPES authorized the Academic Master's Course in Accountancy. It is the only Program in Bahia that offers a stricto sensu Graduate Program in the area of Accountancy Sciences, and it is among six others in the Northeast of Brazil. Since its origin, PPGCONT is committed to the education of highly qualified professionals with a solid knowledge on Accounting and Controlling capable to operate in public, private, and non-profit organizations. As a result, the Master Program in Accountancy aims to prepare individuals who intend to access an academic career, as researchers and/or as college professors, or even to perform administrative functions in business companies. The program has consolidated itself as an important research center, and it has contributed significantly to the enhancement of Accountancy Sciences professors and professionals with a primary focus in the State of Bahia and its surroundings.
